Directed by Christopher Nolan and based on the novel by Christopher Priest, The Prestige is part period drama, part mystery, part psychological thriller, with a little science fiction quietly waiting in the wings. Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall, Andy Serkis and a particularly well-cast David Bowie as Nikola Tesla complete the ensemble.
