A chocolate shop opens during Lent.

Naturally, trouble follows.

Juliette Binoche is Vianne Rocher, a mysterious newcomer who arrives with her young daughter in a rigid little French village and commits a rather serious social offense: she opens a chocolaterie directly across from the church.

Soon she's serving elaborate chocolates, dispensing remarkably perceptive advice, befriending the village outsiders and quietly disrupting a community built around the idea that temptation should be resisted.

Then Johnny Depp floats into town.

Based on the novel by Joanne Harris, Chocolat is romantic, funny, beautifully shot and just subversive enough—a story about pleasure versus propriety, belonging versus conformity, and the considerable social consequences of really good chocolate.

Also starring Judi Dench, Alfred Molina, Lena Olin, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Fresh GMO-free Amish popcorn and cold beverages will be served. Come early and browse—the bookstore stays open after hours exclusively for Movie Night guests before the film.
