Join acclaimed authors Kate Evans and Suzanne Roberts for an inspiring evening of conversation about the creative process, the challenges of long-form writing, and what it really takes to finish a book.

Hosted in the beautiful Tecolote Bookstore Garden in the heart of Todos Santos, this intimate literary evening will feature a lively discussion between two accomplished authors whose combined body of work spans memoir, fiction, travel writing, poetry, essays, and creative nonfiction.

Throughout the evening, Kate and Suzanne will discuss:

  • How their newest books came to life

  • The realities of writing and revising long projects

  • Finding inspiration and maintaining momentum

  • Publishing, perseverance, and the creative life

  • Audience questions and conversation

The evening concludes with a book signing, giving guests the opportunity to meet both authors and have books personally signed.

About Kate Evans

Kate Evans is the author of nine books, including the acclaimed novel Amazing!, praised as "the work of a writer at the height of her powers." Portions of both Amazing! and her travel memoir Wanderland: Living the Traveling Life take place in Baja California Sur.

Her memoir Call It Wonder received the Best Memoir Award at the Bisexual Book Awards in New York City, where she was also honored as Author of the Year.

Originally from California, Kate has lived at Cerritos Beach for more than twelve years. She holds a PhD from the University of Washington, formerly taught English in China and Japan, and served as a writing professor at San José State University. Today she works as a book editor and writing coach.


About Suzanne Roberts

Suzanne Roberts is the author of eight books, including the memoir Almost Somewhere, the essay collections Bad Tourist and Animal Bodies, four collections of poetry, and the craft guide 52 Writing Prompts: Inspiration for the Creative Writer.

Named "The Next Great Travel Writer" by National Geographic Traveler, her work has appeared in The New York Times, National Geographic, CNN, Ploughshares, Brevity, Fourth Genre, and many other publications.

She holds a doctorate in literature and the environment from the University of Nevada, Reno, and teaches in the low-residency MFA program at UNR at Lake Tahoe.
