If you live in Todos Santos now but weren't here when this happened, you need to know this story.

Filmed right here in our community, Patrimonio follows a three-year battle over Tres Santos, a massive American-backed development proposed along the coast at Punta Lobos. Local fishermen, families and residents find themselves fighting to protect their water, their beach, their livelihoods—and a way of life that had existed for generations.

Directed by Lisa F. Jackson and Sarah Teale, the documentary takes us inside the conflict as it actually unfolded. This isn't a film looking back at distant history. These are familiar beaches, familiar roads and people many of us know. For those who have moved here more recently, it provides an extraordinary window into events that helped shape the Todos Santos you see today. The region's limited water and unusually fragile desert-coastal ecology make the issues at the center of the film particularly consequential. (Patrimonio)
