In 1982, getting sucked into a computer was science fiction.

Things have changed.

Long before the internet became our habitat, virtual reality entered the mainstream, or anyone carried a supercomputer around in their pocket, Disney made the gloriously strange decision to build an entire movie inside a digital world.

Jeff Bridges stars as programmer Kevin Flynn, who is quite literally digitized and dropped inside a computer system ruled by the Master Control Program. What follows: rogue programs, electronic gladiators, Light Cycles, neon geometry and one of the most distinctive visual worlds ever put on film.

TRON was a genuine technological experiment. Its pioneering combination of computer-generated imagery, animation, live action and hand-created visual effects helped change what filmmakers imagined computers could do—and its influence can still be seen throughout movies, gaming and digital design.

More than forty years later, it somehow looks both completely retro and like absolutely nothing else.
