Writers’ Critique Group with Author Tracy Ferrell

Alternate Thursdays beginning November 19, 2026 | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM

Upstairs in the Book Nook at Tecolote Bookstore

Honest. Productive. Professional.

Good critique goes beyond saying that something works—or does not. It helps a writer understand how the work is being received, recognize its strengths, and see where it could become clearer, deeper, or more compelling.

Led by Author and Literature Professor Tracy Ferrell, this welcoming group is for writers with finished pieces or polished excerpts ready for thoughtful critique. Participants will also learn how to evaluate the work of others and offer feedback that is honest, specific, respectful, and genuinely useful.

Together, the group will practice how to:

• Give and receive constructive feedback

• Identify what is already working in a piece

• Discuss areas that may need clarification or development

• Critique the writing without criticizing the writer

• Respect the author’s intentions, voice, and genre

• Turn feedback into practical revision choices

The goal is not vague praise or destructive criticism. It is a productive conversation that helps each writer see the work more clearly and return to the page with renewed direction.

Poets, fiction writers, memoirists, essayists, and writers of all genres are welcome.
