Indie Movie Night - Dec 29 2027 - When Voices Meet- Sharon Katz - Event Ticket

When Voices Meet — Special Screening with Sharon Katz

One divided nation. One united choir. One extraordinary journey across South Africa.

When Voices Meet tells the remarkable true story of South African musician Sharon Katz and the 500-voice multicultural children’s choir that became The Peace Train.

In the years surrounding Nelson Mandela’s release and South Africa’s transition from apartheid to democracy, Sharon and fellow musicians brought young people together across racial and cultural divisions—then took their music across the country aboard a train.

The result became far more than a concert tour.

When Voices Meet follows the musicians, activists and young choir members who used music as a way through one of the most consequential periods in modern South African history. Their story is joyful, complicated, political, deeply human—and a rather extraordinary example of what can happen when people decide to sing together instead of remain divided.

For this special Tecolote screening, the story steps right off the screen.

Sharon Katz, who now calls Todos Santos home when she isn’t touring, will join us upstairs in the Book Nook for the film, followed by a Q&A and meet & greet.

Her book "Songs and Stories of Sharon Katz & The Peace Train" will also be available at Tecolote for purchase and signing during the evening.
