How to Finish a Book: A Conversation Between Kate Evans & Suzanne Roberts

For Readers & Writers

There is starting a book.

And then there is finishing one.

Join authors Kate Evans and Suzanne Roberts upstairs in the Book Nook for an intimate conversation about everything that happens between the first good idea and the finished book—the inspiration, false starts, long middle, revision, persistence, publishing, and eventually knowing when to stop writing.

Between them, Kate and Suzanne have published novels, memoirs, essays, poetry, travel writing and books about the writing craft itself. Rather than a formal lecture, this evening brings two experienced writers together to compare notes, tell stories, talk candidly about their own processes, and take questions from readers and writers in the room.

They'll talk about their newest books, Kate's novel Amazing! and Suzanne's Animal Bodies, along with the larger question every writer eventually encounters:

How do you actually finish the thing?

The evening concludes with conversation and a book signing with both authors.

You don't need to be writing a book to come. Readers who are curious about what happens behind the finished pages are very much invited.
