Tecolote Book Club

Monthly Book Club | November 2026–April 2027
First Friday of the Month | 2:00–4:00 PM
Upstairs in the Book Nook at Tecolote Bookstore

Love Books? Come Talk About Them.

The Tecolote Book Club is a small, friendly gathering for people who love to read, talk about books, discover new authors, and spend an afternoon in good company.

Hosted by Tecolote Bookstore and coordinated for its first season by local poet and writer Alane Brown, the club is limited to just 12 members so conversations can stay lively, relaxed, and inclusive.

The club is FREE, but registration is required. There are no walk-ins, and spaces are offered first-come, first-served. A waiting list will be available once the 12 seats are filled.

How the Book Club Works

This is a book club that belongs to its members.

Books will be chosen by the group, and members will take turns leading the monthly conversations. Selections may include fiction, nonfiction, memoir, poetry, and more, with a special encouragement to discover and support authors from Baja California Sur.

The club meets primarily in English, although selected books may also be available in Spanish. Members don't need to be native English speakers—just comfortable enough reading and speaking English to enjoy the conversation.

Our First Book

We begin on Friday, November 6 with:

The Camalote's Daughters by Elisabeth Chavez Rivera

The newly released English edition of this novel by local Baja author Elisabeth Chavez Rivera is now available at Tecolote Bookstore.

And there's something special already planned for February: the club will read Anne Hood's The Book That Matters Most, with author Anne Hood scheduled to visit the club while she is in Todos Santos for the Todos Santos Writers Workshop.

Membership

FREE — a one-time 200mx/$10USD Registration paid to the Bookstore is Required.
Membership is limited to 12 people.

Because the group is intentionally small, please register if you expect to attend at least four of the six meetings from November through April. Members will also be added to the private Tecolote Book Club WhatsApp group for book selections, discussions, scheduling, and club news.
